Dallas where a good friend of my older sister told her about the New Beginnings services for battered and abused women. Through New Beginnings and the Pathways Scholarship Fund, I got the opportunity to participate in the program called Pathways. I went into the training room exhausted and crushed. In that training, I had to look past my ex-husband to see myself. Why had I allowed him to treat me that way and why had I given up on myself?

Through the training, I found my smile, and my heart is now full. I am empowered and excited about my life. The terrible things that this world bestowed upon me do NOT define me. I DEFINE ME! I am a Beautiful, Brave, Independent, Authentic Woman of Color and Grace. I am in the game of my life, and playing it to win!
